International Award of Honor, 2004
Philip McMillan-Browse joined IPPS in 1968. He was elected to the Great Britain and Ireland Committee in 1969, served as Treasurer from 1969-1972, became Editor from 1972-1976, was elected Vice President in 1976 and served as President in 1976 to 1978. During his Presidential year, he also served as the International Alternate Director for the GB&I Region. He received the GB&I Rose Bowl Award in 1980 to recognize his considerable contributions to propagation and the Society.
Philip was one of the earliest members of the GB&I Region and his enthusiasm and commitment helped to shape and mold it. He had contacts with a wide cross-section of the industry and encouraged all to join, swelling membership at a crucial period in the development of the region. He continues to attend area meetings, where he can always be relied on to stimulate discussion and debate by encouraging members to share their knowledge and experience. He has presented numerous papers at IPPS Annual Conferences and published several books in horticulture.
