Throwback Corner

IPPS International is excited to begin sharing some of the exciting historical material preserved in our archives. This month, we are highlighting the last International Tour that was hosted by the Eastern Region of North America. It highlighted the Mid-Atlantic Area of the United States. The above photos are just a few of the attendees who enjoyed the trip!

The “Big Apple and Beyondˮ international tour brought together IPPS members and plant professionals from around the world for an immersive horticultural and cultural experience spanning New York City, surrounding regions, and the Mid-Atlantic, culminating in the IPPS Eastern Region Conference in Newark, Delaware. Participants began with a welcome dinner overlooking Manhattan and spent the following days exploring renowned botanical gardens, historic landscapes, cultural landmarks, commercial production nurseries, and research facilities across Brooklyn, Manhattan, Long Island, New Jersey, and the Philadelphia area. The program highlighted ornamental production, plant breeding research, and public garden excellence, while also offering flexible full and short tour options. The experience concluded with the Eastern Region Conference, themed “Plant Production around the World: From Backyard to Outback,ˮ featuring international and local speakers who shared global perspectives, technical expertise, and
production insights, with many attendees extending their stay to explore the regionʼs exceptional concentration of public gardens.
